If you see your brother's donkey or his ox fallen on the road, do not ignore it.  Help him get it to its feet.  Deuteronomy 22:4

Miniature donkeys are a very sociable breed with great personality and determination. If you only have one donkey, it is a very lonely donkey. They make excellent pets, demanding attention (if I go to any pasture without first paying attention to my spotted donkey friend, Boomer - his namesake "Hee Haw" can be heard for miles around!) This breed has supported a steady market for years. They are easily kept on small acreage. They were first brought into this country to be used to haul ore out of mines which made their small size and easy upkeep an asset. They come in a variety of colors including spotted, grey dun, sorrel, brown, and black.

The donkey saw me and turned away from me these three times.  If she had not turned away, I would certainly have killed you by now, but I would have spared her.  Numbers 22:33

They are shown across the country and registered in several organizations. Breeding jennets are usually between 32" and 36" at the withers and breeding jacks between 29" and 33". With proper care they can live for 25-40 years. They have one foal a year (with gestation period of 11-13 months).  Donkeys are marked with a distinctive cross across their back and withers.  (Read the legend below.)  Another interesting donkey story can be read in the Bible in the book of Numbers 22:21-33. This donkey was smarter than his master.

Everyone knows that the little gray donkey carries a cross on his back.  Most people don't know the legend of the donkey's cross.  The Story is told that the little donkey that had been Jesus' mount on Palm Sunday, came to the hill of Calvary.
Seeing the tragic event occurring there he wished with all his heart he had been able to carry the cross for Jesus as he was the proper one to carry heavy burdens.  The donkey turned his back on the sight, but he could not leave because he wished to stay until all was over because of his love for Jesus.
In reward for the loyal and humble love of the little donkey the Lord caused the shadow of the cross to fall across his back and left it there for the donkey to carry forevermore as a sign that the love of God, no matter how humble carries a reward for all to see.

Mention of "DONKEY" in the Bible:

Numbers 22:21Balaam got up in the morning, saddled his donkey and went with the princes of Moab. 22 But God was very angry when he went, and the angel of the LORD stood in the road to oppose him. Balaam was riding on his donkey, and his two servants were with him. 23 When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD standing in the road with a drawn sword in his hand, she turned off the road into a field. Balaam beat her to get her back on the road.
24 Then the angel of the LORD stood in a narrow path between two vineyards, with walls on both sides. 25 When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD, she pressed close to the wall, crushing Balaam's foot against it. So he beat her again.
26 Then the angel of the LORD moved on ahead and stood in a narrow place where there was no room to turn, either to the right or to the left. 27 When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD, she lay down under Balaam, and he was angry and beat her with his staff. 28 Then the LORD opened the donkey's mouth, and she said to Balaam, "What have I done to you to make you beat me these three times?"
29 Balaam answered the donkey, "You have made a fool of me! If I had a sword in my hand, I would kill you right now."
30 The donkey said to Balaam, "Am I not your own donkey, which you have always ridden, to this day? Have I been in the habit of doing this to you?"
 "No," he said.
31 Then the LORD opened Balaam's eyes, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the road with his sword drawn. So he bowed low and fell facedown.
32 The angel of the LORD asked him, "Why have you beaten your donkey these three times? I have come here to oppose you because your path is a reckless one before me. 33 The donkey saw me and turned away from me these three times. If she had not turned away, I would certainly have killed you by now, but I would have spared her."

Isaiah 1:3 The ox knows his master, the donkey his owner's manger, but Israel does not know, my people do not understand."

Zechariah 9:9  Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

Matthew 21:1 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, "Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, tell him that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away."
4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet: 5  "Say to the Daughter of Zion, `See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.'"
6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt, placed their cloaks on them, and Jesus sat on them. 8 A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Hosanna in the highest!"

John 12:14Jesus found a young donkey and sat upon it, as it is written, 15  "Do not be afraid, O Daughter of Zion; see, your king is coming, seated on a donkey's colt."

2 Peter 2:15 They have left the straight way and wandered off to follow the way of Balaam son of Beor, who loved the wages of wickedness. 16 But he was rebuked for his wrongdoing by a donkey -- a beast without speech -- who spoke with a man's voice and restrained the prophet's madness.
